Koh Phangan has Something for Everyone

Blue waters, coral reefs with the comfort of great food and places to stay, all price ranges, await the traveler. Enjoy a swim or explore undeveloped beaches.

The west side of Koh Phangan has everything from huts to resorts. For the person who wants easy access to the beaches for swimming or snorkeling, this is a great place to stay. Restaurants that serve authentic Thai food and fresh sea food are available. Sunsets are free and can be seen from restaurants, hotel rooms or the beach.

Hiking or biking provides access to the beaches and interiors of the island. On the east side are the coral reefs and diving can be done from the beach. Mountain bikes can be rented for the dirt trails and open flat areas all through the island. Hikers can climb a mountain and explore the jungle and waterfalls. The largest mountain, Kao Ra, stands 2070 feet in the center of the island. A short hike brings one to the Phaeng water fall, a beautiful, natural wall of water surrounded by undeveloped jungle. A little further up provides a wonderful view. Most people recommend a guide for the rest of the trip up the mountain because its trails are not well marked. But, the view is well worth the effort. A person has a panoramic view of the whole island.

The tiny island of Koh Phangan has a collection of experiences that will satisfy anyone. Bus and boat are the easiest and most economical way to travel to the island. There is an airplane service that will fly the traveler in three and a half hours to Koh Phangan. The adventure is waiting to begin.
