One of the most popular winter activities in Colorado is fly-fishing in the backcountry.  Beautiful pristine lakes are stocked yearly with many varieties of fish that will test your patience, endurance, and wits.  Several rivers, such as the Arkansas and the Colorado, are also plenty challenging and exciting for those who are up for adventure.  The fly-fishing season in Colorado runs all through the year, especially up in the high country, but is especially exciting in the fall season.  Besides escaping the crowds of summer visitors, Colorado fly fishing during the fall also means larger fish–fish that have fattened up after spawning to gain strength for the winter ahead.

If you plan your winter vacations in Colorado for later in the season, fly-fishing is just one of many adventures that await you.  Cross-country skiing, especially through the Grand County trail system, is particularly stunning.  No matter what your level of skiing or abilities, Grand County boasts a variety of trails that are sure to please.  A wide selection of resorts, lodges, and outfitters also provide many other activities such as horseback riding, snowshoe tours, zip line tours, and sleigh rides.  Colorado winter vacations are a wonderful way to experience Colorado’s pristine grandeur in a season that is both stunning and relaxing at the same time.

The winter season of the Rockies is truly a time for adventure and fun.  Come to the mountains of Colorado for an amazing experience that will leave you refreshed and relaxed.  Fly-fishing and other winter sports cater to everyone and provide a vacation never to be forgotten.
