The Official Welcome

We just returned home from our 14 day “Goodbye Tour” around Oregon and Washington, saying “ciao” and to our close friends and family. Today I’ve posted the first of many videos on our European travel plans and adventures. Enjoy.

Additionally, we’ve officially been accepted into France with open arms. We received our long-stay visas today!

During the 2.5 hour drive each way from San Diego to Los Angeles I thought a lot about the kinds of things we should do with this blog. What we should say, teach, and discuss. I came up with a few guiding principles here.

  1. Teach the nitty gritty details of how we got to do all this traveling. We’re special, no doubt about it. Not everyone gets to up and leave their jobs to go travel around the world for a year. But, if you want to do this, you can. We’re going to show you how we got to this point in our lives where we’ve been able to drop everything and hit the road.
  2. Show how to do what we’re doing. Tilly and I are convinced that if we can do it, you can too. And, although having motivation is the biggest factor to getting to do it, so is havign the tools. Mindset + tools = catching your dreams. We want to help you with both.
  3. Describe the local flavor of regions we’re in. Learning and experiencing the local customs and culture is one of the biggest driving forces behind my wife and my travels. If we don’t do this sufficiently, I consider our trips failures. There is so much to learn.
  4. Tell everyone about awesome travel deals. We want you to come and visit us, if you can.

What does that mean for you? Well, first, I’d suggest you subscribe (either using RSS, or the email subscription box at the top-right of this page). By subscribing, you won’t miss out on a thing.

Second, it means you should be not only living vicariously through us as we travel, but being inspired, motivated, and equipped to be able to travel as well. And not JUST travel, but travel well, without fearing loss of your career or attaining your future goals.

Tell someone else: If this sounds good for you, it might sound good for someone else you know too. Feel free to tell someone else about this blog.

Talk with us: We based almost all of our travel plans so far on suggestions from other people. We believe in community, and sharing. So, please share with us. Let’s strike up a conversation about you, what your interests are and where you’ve been. Feel free to talk with us whenever you’d like.

Sorry, I don’t know what a URI is so can’t answer that one.
Thank you for sending this. My present computer has Windows 98 so can’t get a lot of things but I may be getting an XP next week – free even. This is very exciting to follow where you are going and what you’re doing. Thank you for the chance since I doubt that I will ever get to Europe in person.
